
Dr Mary Moran
Dr Mary Moran is a nurse and midwife who began her career in obstetric and gynaecological ultrasound in 1997 at the National Maternity Hospital (NMH) in Dublin. While working in the Fetal Assessment Unit at NMH, she completed a Higher Diploma in Ultrasound and a Master’s in Healthcare Management.
In 2007, she joined the Radiography and Diagnostic Imaging section within the School of Medicine at University College Dublin (UCD). During her time at UCD, she established the Obstetrics and Gynaecology modules of the MSc Ultrasound programme, the Graduate Certificate in Fertility Ultrasound, and several Professional Certificates in Obs and Gynae Ultrasound. She also completed a PhD and supervised multiple doctoral students, while continuing to practise ultrasound regularly.
Dr Moran has contributed to several national committees under the Health Service Executive, particularly in developing national guidelines. She retired from full-time employment as an Associate Professor at UCD in May 2025 but continues to maintain a strong professional interest in obstetric and gynaecological ultrasound.
