Join our Neuro Stroke Imaging Update REALM, where we explore the latest advances in stroke diagnosis, including the critical detection of basilar artery thrombus.

Learning outcomes:
- Eliminate the Basilar Blind Spot: Implement a failsafe search strategy for Basilar Artery Occlusion, focusing on the detection of the dense artery sign and subtle posterior circulation ischaemia, which are frequent sources of reporting discrepancies.
- Leverage Thin Sections and MPRs: Improve the sensitivity for detection of dense artery sign using thin-section source data and thick-section section Multi-Planar Reconstructions (MPR).
- Navigate the Tumour-Stroke Spectrum: Differentiate between “Stroke Mimics” (tumours presenting as acute deficits) and “Tumour Mimics” (subacute strokes resembling neoplasms), by identifying key clues that can help separate the two.
- Apply Clinical-Radiological Correlation: Utilise basic neurological localisation rules to direct the radiological search pattern, ensuring the correct vascular territory is scrutinised based on the patient’s specific deficit
- Refine CTA Review: Deploy practical tips and tricks for CTA review to improve detection rates of subtle thrombi and distal occlusions.
Please be reminded that our connected doctors are required to attend a minimum of 3 REAL meetings each year. These can be attended or reviewed following the actual meeting. Reflection and CPD evidence of attendance should be provided at appraisal.
