Highlights of our Head and Neck Imaging Course: Dr Alaa Abdelgalil
Recently, I had the privilege of being a guest speaker at the exciting and impactful Head & Neck Imaging Course organised by the experienced JCA Seminars team. It was designed to equip radiologists and head and neck Surgeons alike with the skills and knowledge they need to excel in this quite complex field. As someone passionate about both the science of radiology and the art of teaching, this opportunity was particularly inspiring.
The course brought together a diverse group of radiology consultants, registrars, and head and neck surgeons eager to deepen their understanding of imaging techniques and the latest advancements in Head & Neck radiology. My lectures focused on oral cavity & floor of the mouth, tinnitus, anosmia, trigeminal nerve and perineural spread, optic nerve, thyroid and carotid space pathologies.
It was fantastic to see how engaged the audience was, asking thoughtful questions to try to help them in their own clinical practice. What stood out to me most during the course was a question about the classification of neck lymph nodes levels in the neck which is crucial for all radiologists reporting head and neck scans.
It was also a great reminder of the importance of continued education and collaboration within the medical community. By participating in courses like these, I not only enhance my own skills but also contribute to the broader mission of improving patient care through better diagnosis and treatment planning.
Overall, it was an inspiring experience, and I look forward to participating in similar events in the future. My next mission will be an international imaging course in Kuwait in February 2025 during which I will be presenting some interesting topics, so stay tuned! It’s always a pleasure to engage with passionate professionals who are dedicated to making a real impact in the world of medicine.
