Behind the scenes at the Cardiac MRI Case Review Course
The Cardiac MRI Case Review Course, led by Dr Jason Dungu, Consultant Cardiologist, Essex Cardiothoracic Centre, and delivered in partnership with NeoSoft with support from Jenny Chow, took place this April at the Holiday Inn, Basildon, Essex, UK, bringing together radiologists and cardiologists progressing beyond Cardiac MRI Level 1 towards greater confidence in clinical reporting.
Delivered in an expert‑led, collaborative setting, the course offered a structured, hands‑on approach to Cardiac MRI case interpretation. Delegates reviewed real clinical cases with a strong emphasis on practical discussion, reporting strategy and developing the confidence required for Level 2 / EACVI‑aligned practice.

A hands‑on, case‑based Cardiac MRI course supporting Level 2 progression
Designed to reflect how Cardiac MRI is used in everyday clinical practice, this course is firmly case‑led rather than theory‑focused. Delegates worked through complete Cardiac MRI studies, exploring volumes, reporting strategies and diagnostic decision‑making in a format closely aligned with real‑world workflows.
Across the three‑day course, participants reviewed more than 75 Cardiac MRI cases spanning ischaemic heart disease (including stress and viability imaging), cardiomyopathies, congenital heart disease, valve and vascular pathology, pericardial disease, cardiac masses and incidental findings. Sessions followed a clear progression from reporting fundamentals through to more complex pathology, with interactive discussion throughout encouraging delegates to question interpretations, compare approaches and learn from shared clinical experience.
“It’s important to have a lot of experience in seeing lots of different pathologies so that you know from normal to abnormal and work out the nuances of complicated cardiac disease.”
– Dr Jason Dungu, Consultant Cardiologist
Supporting hands‑on learning through partnership with NeoSoft
The course was delivered in partnership with NeoSoft, with on‑site support from Jenny Chow, who worked closely with faculty and delegates throughout the programme. Dedicated workstations and NeoSoft’s reporting software supported smooth navigation through complex Cardiac MRI datasets, helping participants stay focused on interpretation, quantification and reporting.
With suiteHEART® available throughout and support on hand, delegates could follow a realistic clinical workflow and get immediate help when questions arose, keeping the hands‑on learning smooth, practical and focused on real clinical decision‑making.
Jenny Chow (NeoSoft) on why hands‑on training matters:
“Collaborating with Educate by Medica supports NeoSoft’s goal of advancing clinical Cardiac MRI education by pairing our software with high-quality training.
Our cardiac MRI post-processing software, suiteHEART®, helps create a realistic workflow by mirroring what clinicians encounter in routine clinical practice. For users progressing beyond Level 1, it supports hands-on experience, guiding them through image review, contouring, quantification, and reporting.
Having NeoSoft support on-site means that assistance can be provided right away, ensuring questions are resolved in real time so participants can stay engaged, keep pace with the session, and follow along without falling behind.”
What delegates gained from the course
For many delegates, the value of the course lay in the opportunity to repeatedly review a wide range of Cardiac MRI cases with expert guidance. We welcomed delegates who travelled all the way from Denmark, Egypt, Ireland, and Poland, highlighting the course’s role in supporting professional development beyond local training opportunities.
By the end of the programme, attendees reported increased confidence in recognising patterns, structuring reports and applying learning directly to their own clinical practice.
The course also encouraged valuable peer interaction, creating space for discussion, clarification and shared problem‑solving among radiologists and cardiologists from different clinical settings and healthcare systems.
Reflecting on the outcomes of the programme, Dr Jason Dungu shared what he hopes delegates take back into clinical practice.
“After this course, I’m hopeful that delegates will be very confident in diagnosing the specific cause of heart disease… and, more importantly, being able to describe very succinctly what the referrers need to know about the further management of the patient.”
– Dr Jason Dungu, Consultant Cardiologist
Here’s what our delegates had to say:
“I found it very useful and interesting. It was nice to have a different perspective for what I do.”
“I definitely think this course will help me feel more competent in reporting Cardiac MRI cases.”
“Very important tips were provided, which are helpful in reporting and in scanning.”

Strengthening Cardiac MRI practice beyond the classroom
Case‑based Cardiac MRI training is essential in bridging the gap between foundational knowledge and confident clinical practice. By combining expert faculty, structured discussion and high‑quality datasets, this course supports skills that can be applied immediately in clinical departments.
This behind‑the‑scenes insight shows how hands‑on case review and expert guidance support clinicians progressing beyond Cardiac MRI Level 1.
The Cardiac MRI Case Review Course returns on 9–11 November 2026 in Manchester for those looking to join our future course.
